HIGHLIGHTS OF THE PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE

In his address to Cameroon Youths on the eve of their feast Day, President Paul Biya appraised what his government has been doing and will continue in order to take care of their needs.
The president also exposed the weaknesses that rob of us progress, and frankly spelt out what the youths in particular, and parents (adults) in general, should be doing to alter the disturbing trends.
HIGHLIGTS:
INDOMITABLE LIONS
“like me you were certainly disappointed by the early elimination of our indomitable Lions from the ongoing African Cup of Nations in Cote D’lvoire.
I congratulate you for demonstrating dignity in defeat as you have in victory so many times before”
FUEL PRICE HIKE
“I am aware like your parents; you are concerned about the recent hike in fuel pump prices. You are also worried about the impact that it could have on our living conditions. I wish to assure that the requisite efforts have been made to maintain the adjustment at a reasonable level. I have also instructed the freezing of the prices of cooking gas and kerosene in order to preserve household purchasing power”
EDUCATION, A PRIORITY
For many years now the buck of the state budget has been devoted to the education sector. This reflects the importance we attach to education.
VOCATIONAL TRAINING
I have prescribed the reduction of school fees in Vocational Training Centre’s of Excellence from 500 thousand CFA Francs to 50 thousand CFA Francs to enable the greatest number of youths to access quality training.
