Bafoussam : Youth Celebrate In Pomp

An enthusiastic crowd of over 20,000 youths in Bafoussam and its environ converged on the Bafoussam grandstand on 11 February,2024, comprising primary school pupils, secondary and high school students, professional and university institutes, political parties and youth’s associations. They turned out in jubilant style to celebrate the 58th; Youth Day with pomp and pageantry.
Celebrated under the theme “Youths import substitution and economic patriotism for Cameroon’s development”, the colourful ceremony in Bafoussam that lasted for 3hours, 30minutes saw over 20.000 youths all filled with anxiety and excitement taking part in the march past. The occasion was presided by Governor Awa Fonka Augustine, who was accompanied by political, administrative, religious and traditional authorities in Bafoussam. The ceremony started with the singing of the national anthem, closely followed by the replay of the Head of State’s speech to the youths. Then the spectacular highlights of the national day celebration was the superb march past, by pupils and students, who in various colours marched past the grand stand ,mounted by dignitaries among them Governor Awa  Fonka Augustine, this time singing patriotic songs  and brandishing the national color, and carrying the effigy of the Head of State.
