African Games 2023 : Team Cameroon Thirsty For Gold

As at yesterday, March 11, 2024, the country had won four medals; one silver and three bronze. More medals are expected as the competition goes on.
Cameroonian flagbearers at the ongoing African Games in Ghana are still yearning for their first gold medal harvest in the competition. Since the start of the competition on March 8, 2024, athletes have put up remarkable performances and determined to reach the desired target. Medals have so far been won in karate and freestyle wrestling. In the women’s freestyle wrestling that took place on Sunday March 10, 2024, Blandine Ngiri won silver in the -78kg category. Rosine Ntsa Assouga (68kg) won bronze in 68kg and Miriam Orock Ngoe Wase got bronze in the 50kg category.
During the semifinals, Miriam Orock Ngoe Wase and Rosine Ntsa failed to win gold for Cameroon after they were beaten by Ivorian and Moroccan opponents respectively. Despite the defeat, the athletes are not disappointed as they intend to continue working hard in future competitions. Blandine Ngiri said she was happy with her bronze medal. She said after losing the semi-finals fight, she has been able to see her weaknesses and will correct her errors before going to Egypt for the African Championships to fetch for points for the Olympic Games.
