Play-Offs Down : Astres Dominates APEJES

The fight to stay in the MTN Elite One Championship next season gets tougher as the days go by. Astres of Douala beat APEJES of Mfou 2-1 in one of the day three matches of the MTN Elite One play-offs down competition that took place yesterday March 31, 2024 at the Yaounde Ngoa-Ekelle Stadium. Supporters from Yaounde and elsewhere thronged the stadium to cheer their players to victory given the stakes of the competition. 
Astres of Douala began by dominating the game from the start with a good play style that paid off as the club from Douala was able to open scores at the fifth minute through Joseph Eock. AEJES fought back, but they squandered their scoring opportunities. Astres of Douala mounted pressure upfront but failed to concretise their chances. At half time the score line was 1-0 in favour of Astres of Douala. 
On resumption, Astres continued with their onslaught but APEJES resisted with a strong defence, warding off any attempts by Astres.  APEJES improved on their game and at the 47th minute Yvan Noh Nafeng scored for APEJES. That came as booster for the APEJES team that was determined to take home the victory. Replacements by coaches to bring in fresh blood to the teams did not help much. All efforts by the two teams to increase scores were futile. Astres of Douala carried the day beating APEJES 2-1....
