FEJAMAC : Talents On Display

This was during the Jazz Festival held in Douala from 29 - 31 March, 2024.
The first edition of the Jazz Festival “FEJAMAC” took place in Douala with the hope of introducing the genre and building a bridge to contemporary music. For three days, jazz artists thrilled the audience with beautiful songs while paying tribute to the legendary Cameroonian jazz king, Manu Dibango. During the event, renowned artists such as Hervé Nguebo, Armand Biyag and others thrilled the audience with jazz songs using Cameroonian rhythms and sounds.
In Cameroon, most musical genres have their own cultural event. Unfortunately, jazz is not one of them, despite the presence of many talented local and international Cameroonian artists in this field. In order to raise the profile of this under-recognised movement, a group of artists led by Gaëlle Wondje decided to create the FEJAMAC Festival, which took place from 29 to 31 March 2024. The "Festival de Jazz et des Musiques Actuelles du Cameroun", known by its acronym FEJAMAC, aims to establish itself as a platform for the promotion of excellence in jazz with a Cameroonian artistic signature.
