Inclusive, Peaceful Societies : Sports; Driving Force!

The first edition of an initiative; “Ongola Fit For Life Inclusive Semi-marathon” organised by the National Commission for UNESCO was launched on April 21, 2024 in Yaounde.
The Commission for United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) National Commission of Cameroon continues to explore mechanisms to foster inclusive, peaceful and resilient societies. They have this time resorted to sports as a promoting factor to these values, crucial to the development of any nation. It is against this back drop that the first edition of an initiative dubbed “Ongola Fit For Life Inclusive Semi-marathon” was launched in partnership with the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education (MINSEP) on April 21, 2024 in Yaounde.
Several athletes took part in the walk and semi-marathon disciplines in both the women and men categories. The kicker was given by Tamba II Jean Louis, Director of Development of Physical Education at the Ministry of Sports, on behalf of the Minister. It was around 8 a.m. at the esplanade of the National Commission for UNESCO at the Dragage neighbourhood in Yaounde; a venue, which equally served as point of arrival. The athletes explored the 13km itinerary, not only to keep fit but to be ambassadors of inclusiveness, peace and resilience.
Talking on behalf of Minister Laurent Serge Etoundi Ngoa, President of the National Commission for UNESCO, was Anne Lawrence Moume, Head of Section of Social and Human Sciences of the Commission.
