Maritime Transport : Trade Union Is Born

The launch of that organisation took place in Douala on 8 May, 2024.
The maritime and auxiliary transport sector now has a new syndicate. The "Groupement des opérateurs du transport maritime et auxiliaires de transport au Cameroun" (Gotram) launched its activities on 8 May in Douala in the presence of some administrative authorities, including the Secretary General of the Littoral Governor's Office, Aboubakary Haman Tchiouto. Gotram was created in order to represent its members in front of public authorities, standardisation bodies, insurance companies, financial institutions and other national and international organisations.
To develop and consolidate feelings of solidarity and good fraternity among its members. In addition, it will study or carry out any promotion and/or training activities relevant to their professions, facilitate the amicable settlement of any disputes brought before it by its members and set up any arbitration, conciliation or advisory body. Gotram has also undertaken to appoint arbitrators and experts to the courts and to settle amicably any disputes that may arise between and/or against its members.
Speaking at the launch of the activities in Douala on 8 May, the pioneer president of Gotram, Hamma Toukour Gandi, said they were out to protect the interests of all stakeholders in the maritime transport sector and ancillary operators in Cameroon.
