End Of Course Examinations : SW Stakeholders Fine-tune Strategies

Directives on the conducts of the examinations across the region were dished out to teachers recently.
The South West Secondary Education Stakeholders have in their second education sector conference for 2023/2024 on May 17, 2024 at the Government Technical High School Molyko Buea laid down ground work for a smooth conduct of end-course-examinations in the region. They insisted on the provision of secure storage facilities such as strong rooms for questions and work scripts. Measures on discouraging all forms of frauds and examination malpractices on the table. The teachers looked at the need to master the innovations introduced by the respective examination structures. They were called up to make good use of the hygiene and sanitation at all phases of the different examinations. The need for all campuses and examinations rooms to respect candidates’ sitting positions was reiterated.
There are 4, 009 candidates who will sit DEAC examinations. Still, there are 44, 074 candidates for the Cameroon General Certificate of Education (O/L and A/L) and 931 candidates for Office du Bac examinations. This gives a total of 49, 014 candidates for the entire South West Region for all the end of course examinations for 2024. This is against 46, 362 in 2023. As such, 2024 has an increase of 3, 650 candidates in the region.
Ngole Doris Mesode, representative of Office du Bac du Cameroon in the South West, indicated the state of preparedness for examinations organised for French speaking candidates. Cornelius Awanjia Asong, Sub Director of Examinations at the South West Regional Delegation for Secondary Education attributed the increase of students to better performance recorded last year.
