UN General Assembly : Great Expectation For Cameroon

Everything being equal, Cameroon will enter the annals of world history at a higher pedigree as its illustrious son and Africa's candidate for the position of the President of the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation, Philemon Yang will be voted by members of the UN General Assembly today, Thursday, June 6, 2024 at its headquarters in New York, United States of America.
The election that will be presided at by the President of the 78th General Assembly of the United Nations Organisation, Dennis Francis will take place at 3 pm New York local time in the General Assembly Hall in line with Rule 30 of the Rules of Procedure.  The Permanent Representative of Cameroon to the UN, Ambassador Tommo Monthe said the election will take place in the presence of a battery of world leaders among whom will be the Secretary General of the UN, Antonio Guterres and Cameroon’s delegation led by the Minister of External Relations Mbella Mbella.
The various personalities and delegations will witness the President of the 78th General Assembly, Dennis Francis lead the solemn occasion as he will receive the candidate for the position of President of the 79th General Assembly. He would state that this is the turn of Africa to preside over the 79th General Assembly session of the United Nations Organisation.  Since Africa has presented only Philemon Yang as their candidate, the presiding official will state that the African continent has endorsed Yang as their candidate.  At this level, if there is no contestation, the members of the UN General Assembly will vote Philemon Yang...
