Tour of Cameroon 2024 : Kamzong Abossolo Emerges Winner

The cyclist from the SNH Velo Club finished the 1002.3km race in 23h59’09.

 

The ninth and last lap of the 20th edition of the International Cycling Tour of Cameroon took place along the Ngoulemakong-Yaounde highway over a distance of 107.7km yesterday. A total of 40 cyclists were at the starting blocks in Ngoulemakong ceremonial ground. The ninth lap covered the South and Centre Regions of Cameroon. As the cyclists rode past, the populations in the towns and villages lined the highway to cheer the cyclists. It was a tough race as each team was out to at least go back home with a victory.
The fight for the yellow jersey was rife especially between the Algerian, Moroccan, Cameroonian and Burkinabe teams. Each side was determined to take home the yellow jersey. Two cyclists; Tigelaar Jans from Global Cycling Holland and Fotsing Claude Harold from the SNH Velo Club abandoned the race. They were ridding at a speed of 44.11km/ph. One cyclist from Ufusport France did not start the race. Despite the difficult competition, the Cameroonian cyclists held on in a bid to keep the yellow jersey. The cyclists arrived the 20th May Boulevard in a group but Cissé Isiaka from Côte d’Ivoire crossed the finish line first in 2h26’30. He was followed by Ben Youcef Abdallah from Algeria and Mouni Vincent from Burkina Faso with the same time record. Clovis Kamzong Abossolo from the SNH Velo Club finished on the fourth spot with the same time record.
From the result, Clovis Kamzong Abossolo finished as the overall winner of the competition finishing the 1002.3km race in 23h59’0...
