Electoral Operations : National Assembly Urges Democratic Vitality

House Speaker, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril while opening the June ordinary session of the institution yesterday called on stakeholders to allow ELECAM carry out its missions.
Cameroon’s next electoral phase begins next year (2025). The Presidential election is in view. The electoral calendar also previews the organisation of the legislative and municipal elections, as well as regional elections. Given the stakes of such an important process in the democratic life of the country, the Speaker of the National Assembly, Cavaye Yeguie Djibril, while chairing the opening plenary of the June session of Parliament, yesterday June 11, 2024, called on the civic responsibility of Cameroonians. This was in the presence of members of government, led by the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute, amongst other personalities.
Noting that Cameroon is about experiencing another electoral phase, the House Speaker warned against unnecessary distractions from some actors in the process, who in their quest for power can embark on unlawful practices. Cavaye Yeguie Djriril, rather called on Cameroonians to use the process to showcase the vitality of the country’s democratic principles. He also called on Cameroonians to remain vigilant and patriotic. The legislators urged every stakeholder to allow Elections Cameroon (ELECAM), the elections management body, carry out its missions as stated by the law.
Given the serenity that reigned during the end-of-course examinations for the 2023/2024 academic year, organised by the Ministries of Basic, and Secondary Education in both the English and French systems of education, the House Speaker congratulated the various actors.
Another aspect highlighted by the lawmaker in his opening statement is the ongoing implementation of the first phase of the Universal Health Coverage policy for children between zero and five years and pregnant mothers. Presenting statistics obtained thus far, he appreciated the process, noting that it will greatly help in the development process of the country.
