Indomitable Lions : Promising Reconstruction

The recent two World Cup qualifiers paved the way for rebuilding a solid team capable of representing the country in major international hurdles.
The performance of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon during the last day three and four qualifiers of the 2026 FIFA World Cup shows the first possibilities of reconstruction of the national football team after their poor showing at the 2023 AFCON in Côte d’Ivoire. The recent two world Cup qualifiers paved the way for rebuilding a solid team capable of representing the country in major international hurdles. The Indomitable Lions beat Cabo Verde 4-1 in their day three qualifier at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium on June 8, 2024. Aboubakar Vincent scored two goals and the other two were scored by defender Michael Ngadeu Ngandjui and Nouhou Tolo.
It was the first time the Lions scored that number of goals in a single game in ten years. The last time was the 4-1 win over Tunisia at the same venue in the 2014 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. During the day four qualifiers, the Indomitable Lions played a 1-1 draw with the Palancas Negras of Angola at the November 11 Omnisports Stadium in Luanda. After two matches and in a space of three days the Lions have reassured their fans of the potentials even though they did not have enough time for preparation. After the matches, Cameroon continues to top group D with eight points. They are followed by Libya and Cabo Verde with seven points each.
