Festivities marking the 50th anniversary of Cameroon Tribune could have been incomplete without the significant support of partners and sponsors who joined the newspaper in making commemorative events enjoyable and memorable. Partners and sponsors joined festivities bandwagon at different dimensions to make Cameroon Tribune @50 an event of great magnitude. Official sponsors of the event such as the National Association of Banana Plantain Producers dubbed, FBPC, in the French language and the National Social Insurance Fund (NSIF) since Monday July 1st have been carrying out special exhibition of their products within the premises of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM).
At the stand of the National Association of Banana Plantain Producers, the President, Samuel Tony Obam Bikoue revealed that their goal is to make plantain Cameroon's leading export by 2035. “Our mission is to add value to the banana value chain”, Tony Obam underscored. While noting that the association is the official sponsor of the 50th anniversary of Cameroon Tribune, Tony Obam said the event is an opportunity to showcase what the association produces out of plantain or banana. Hence, on the exhibition table, visitors could see and taste wine, whisky, cake and flours made out of plantain. Evidently, visitors could also see plantains and plantain chips on display. With six million actors in the sector, 28 million consumers in the country, Tony Obam says the association is working towards applying the government’s National Development Strategy by 2030. With Industrial clusters already set up in Ngomedzap in the Centre Region, Kribi in the South Region, Yokadouma in the East Region and Bamenda in the North West Region, the association is bracing up to supply one million tonnes of plantain to Nigeria next year.
