SOPECAM : Celebrating Excellence!

Medals were awarded to deserving staff of the institution yesterday July 3, 2024 by Labour and Social Security Minister, Grégoire Owona.

Some 266 staff of the Cameroon News and Publishing Corporation (SOPECAM) have been awarded labour medals. Labour and Social Security Minister, Grégoire Owona chaired the medal-award ceremony of July 3, 2024 which falls in line within celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the national bilingual daily newspaper, Cameroon Tribune. A total of 387 medals in the categories of silver, silver-gilt and gold were affixed on the recipients representing 10, 15 and 25 years of service. In attendance was the Minister of Public Service and Administrative Reforms, Board Chair of SOPECAM, Joseph LE and other personalities. 
Extending the congratulation and encouragements of government to the recipients, Labour and Social Security Minister noted that the principal objective of the ceremony was to celebrate excellence at work. Saluting the path covered, the Minister noted that Cameroon Tribune has occupied centre stage in the print media and information landscape. “You have, in my opinion, been a factor of peace and development. You have brought to Cameroonians good information, in fact, adequate information in the Cameroonian market of information. Cameroonians want to be informed and that is just what you have done over the years,” the Minister said in appreciation to the work of Cameroon Tribune. He added that the dexterity of the staff of SOPECAM across the national territory is an example to be copied. Grégoire Owona was happy to note that social dialogue is practiced in the institution, going by the speeches of the General Manager and the Staff Delegate. To those who are still to receive medals, the Minister said they should follow the footsteps of predecessors and will definitely be recognised.
