African Nanboudo Championship : Cameroon Emerges Champions

A total of 20 gold and two silver medals was the harvest during the fifth edition of the competition that rounded off in Yaounde on Sunday July7, 2024.

The flag of Cameroon floated high during the closing of the fifth edition of the African Nanboudo Championship at the Yaounde Multipurpose Sports Complex on Sunday, July 7, 2024. Organised by the Confederation of African Nanboudo in collaboration with the Worldwide Nanboudo Union, the competition brought together athletes from 12 countries from across the continent. It was another opportunity for Yaounde inhabitants to discover new techniques in the sport and also for African athletes to showcase their talents. The competition unfolded in the men and women’s categories. 
At the end of the competition, Cameroon emerged overall winners, winning 22 medals; 20 gold and two silver medals in the individual and the teams’ competitions. Senegal was second with 11 medals; two gold; seven silver and two bronze. Chad occupied the third position with 10 medals; four silver and six bronze. Cameroon won virtually all the gold medals at stake. It is the fifth time Cameroon is winning the competition. In the women’s category, Cameroon was on the top of the table with 10 gold medals. Chad was second with eight medals; four silver and four bronze and Morocco came third with four medals; three silver and one bronze. In the men’s competition, Cameroon finished on the first position with 12 medals; 10 gold and two silver medals. Senegal was second with seven medals; two gold, four silver and one bronze. Côte d’Ivoire was third with four medals; two silver and two bronze.
