Football : Sixteen Teams For One Trophy

Football is among the most popular sports disciplines that the world will be watching during the Paris Olympic Games. In addition to host nation France, fifteen men's national teams from six separate continental confederations will be vying for the coveted trophy. The football tournaments at the 2024 Summer Olympics will be held from 24 July to August 10, 2024. It will be the 28th edition of the men's Olympic football tournament. The women’s tournament will be held from July 25 to August 10, 2024. It will be the eighth edition of the Olympic tournament. Together with the women's competition, the 2024 Summer Olympics football tournament will be held at seven stadiums in seven cities in France. The final will be held at Parc des Princes in Paris.
Unlike the women’s football tournament, which is a full senior-level tournament, the men’s Olympic football event is restricted to players under 23 years old, with a maximum of three over-age players allowed. The 16 men’s teams are divided into four groups of four teams each. The top two from each group progress to the quarterfinals, followed by the semifinals. The winners of the semifinals meet in the gold medal match, while the losers play in the bronze medal match.
