Slim Chances For Team Cameroon

The six athletes to defend the colours of Cameroon in four disciplines will meet stiff competition from the best athletes in the world.
Cameroon’s Olympic hopefuls face an uphill battle in Paris. The country goes into the competition with only six athletes competing across four disciplines. If one should rely solely on the pedigree of these athletes, then the chances are evidently slim, giving that they will be coming up against the best talents in the world.
However, there is a glimmer of hope. Sprinter Emmanuel Eseme, a two-time Olympian (Rio 2016, Tokyo 2020), has been consistently improving his 100m personal bests over the past two years. Eseme is considered Cameroon's strongest medal contender. Joining Eseme on the track is young talent Linda Angounou, who will be making her Olympic debut in the 400m hurdles. African judo champion Richelle Sopi Mbella (+78kg) and veteran table tennis player Sarah Hanffou (appearing in her third Olympics) add experience to the squad. Rounding out the team are swimmers Grâce Manuela Nguelo'o (50m freestyle) and Giorgio Armani Kamogne (100m freestyle) who will be gaining valuable experience on the biggest sporting stage. They are young and will need a lot of courage to face-off the bigger and more experienced names in swimming.
