World Deaf Athletics Championships : Three Athletes Qualify For Deaflympics

Mballa Ogata, Koung Emmanuel and Messe Bibiche picked their qualification tickets during the fifth edition of the competition that took place China recently.

Three Cameroonian athletes will take part in the Deaflympics the 2025 Deaflympics Games in Tokyo, Japan. That is the outcome of the World Deaf Athletics that ended in the People’s Republic of China yesterday July 24, 2024. The athletes competed in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m, 1500m, shot put, discus, javelin and hammer throws. It was a highly competitive event with the Cameroonian athletes finishing without any medals won. This notwithstanding Cameroonian athletes put up remarkable performances in the competition. 
For the 2025 Deaflympics Games in Tokyo, Cameroon’s Mballa Ogata Michelle qualified in the shot put. Koung Mpele Emmanuel qualified in the hammer and discus throws and Messe Bibiche Patricia qualified for hammer throw. In the track events, Toukempenkeu Mounir and Touobou Gaetan failed to win medals in the 1500m race. In the 800m the same athletes did not qualify for the final. No minimum performance for them and consequently no qualification for the Deaflympics. In the 200m event Peka Mohamed also failed to qualify for the final and meet the minimum requirements for the Deaflympics. 
In the men’s and women’s javelin throws, no Cameroonian athlete made it through to the second part of the final.
