FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup : Lionesses Crumble Before APEJES Academy

They were beaten 4-0 during their third test match that took place at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo on Wednesday July 31, 2024.

Preparations have intensified in the country ahead of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup that will take place in Colombia. The third training camp rounded off at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo on Wednesday July 31, 2024. Some 30 players fine-tuned their skills ahead of the competition. The Lionesses have gone back home for a short break before returning to camp to continue training. During their training session, the U-20 Lionesses played three test matches with some local clubs in the country. The Lionesses played a 0-0 tie with the U-17 men’s team of Canon Yaounde during their first game at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo. They later beat Canon U-17 men’s team 1-0 in their second game. During their last game against APEJES Academy of Mfou on Wednesday July 31, 2024, the Lionesses were beaten 4-0.  
Coach Hassan Balla said the aim is to ensure that the girls have assimilated the lessons learned during their training sessions. He said the third training camp focused on athletic and physical training. “At the same time, we got into the technical and tactical side of things,” he said. He explained that the fourth training camp will take place from today, August 5-14, 2024.
