2025 AFCON Qualifiers : Competition Venue Relocated

This is one of the major resolutions taken during the first preparatory meeting that took place in Yaounde on Friday August 23, 2024.

The AFCON 2025 qualifier between Cameroon and Namibia originally scheduled to take place at the Japoma Stadium in Douala on September 7, 2024 has been relocated to the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium on the same date. This is one of the major resolutions taken during the first preparatory meeting ahead of two AFCON qualifiers that will pit the Indomitable Lions against Namibia on September 7 and against Zimbabwe on September 10, 2024 in Kampala. The meeting that took place in the Ministry of Sports and Physical Education on Friday August 23, 2024 brought together partner administrations, the national Sports Infrastructure an Infrastructure Board (ONIES), the Cameroon Football Federation and the technical staff of the Indomitable Lions
The Minister of Sports and Physical Education, Narcisse Mouelle Kombi presided over the meeting. The objective was to seek necessary measures to be taken in order to ensure the best organisation on the one hand, and the other hand, an honourable participation of the Indomitable Lions in the two encounters. The state of the September 7 match venue was top on the agenda. During the meeting, the Administrator of ONIES Félix Ewane presented the playground of the Japoma Stadium which is deteriorated due to rainfall and also after the CAF Champions League and CAF Confederation Cup matches were played recently.
