Promoting African Photography : Award for Best Photo

This was announced on 24 August in Douala during the award ceremony for the "Wiki Loves African" photo competition.


Photographers in the Douala have been called upon to promote African photography and protect the originality of their work. This call was made in Douala on 24 August during the award ceremony of the Wiki Loves Africa annual photography competition.
The competition, which aims to promote Africa in images for the 2024 edition, was held under the theme "AFRICA CREATES".  For the 2024 edition, the competition was open from 1 March to 30 April and around 716 photographs were received from more than 30 candidates, of which 10 were selected as winners based on the criteria.
According to the organiser and representative of the Wikimedians of Cameroon user group, Minette Lontsie, the national jury evaluated and selected the ten best photographs on the basis of technical quality (sharpness, use of light; perspective), originality, usefulness of the image on Wikipedia and more. She added that the best images of the international ranking will meet the technical criteria of Wikimedia's "remarkable images" process.
