Women’s Education, Empowerment : First Lady Shares Knowledge, Extends Partnership

During her stay in Beijing, Chantal Biya attended a conference on the importance of empowering women as a development tool.

Cameroon’s First Lady, Chantal Biya has once again widened her opportunities through  knowledge sharing and experiences, on methods to empower women, in a bid  to reduce poverty in Africa. This was during her fruitful sojourn in Beijing, China. While  accompanying her husband, President Paul Biya to China for the 2024 Summit of the Forum on China–Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), Cameroon’s First Lady, who is also UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador For Education and Social Inclusion, played an active role in examining ways through which women in Africa and China can be empowered for a better future. This was during a conference in Beijing held on the sidelines of the Summit.
At the invitation of the First Lady of China, Peng Liyuan, wife of Chinese President Xi Jinping, the First Lady of Cameroon honoured an invitation to attend a conference on the theme “China and Africa: Hand-in-Hand for Women’s Empowerment and Education.” The one-hour conference was certainly the most fruitful moment for Cameroon’s First Lady during her trip to China. Discussions at the conference did not just tie with one of her daily actions – which is that of educating and empowering women – but also gave her an opportunity to reinforce ways to better perform  in that domain. The presence of over 25 African First Ladies at the conference was also a plus to the humanitarian actions of Mrs Chantal Biya, Founding President of the African Synergy Against AIDs and Suffering. It should be recalled that the Pan-African non-governmental organization; African Synergy Against AIDs and Suffering, was founded in 2002 in Yaounde with the aim of  pooling efforts amongst African First Ladies for more concerted and concrete action to alleviate suffering and fight against HIV/AIDS throughout Africa. The Founding President of African Synergy Against AIDs and Suffering to reconnect with her peers in Beijing was another ideal platform for the ladies to chat better ways to empower women in the African continent.
The conference created a moment of bonding between two of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) ambassadors, Madame Chantal Biya and the Firs...
