Order in the Commercial Moto Bike Sector : City Council intensifies Sensitisation

The Douala City Council has embarked on a sensitisation campaign to ensure that commercial motorcycles plying the city have the necessary documents to operate freely. Officials of the City Council took to the streets on Tuesday 1 October 2024 to explain and emphasise the necessary documents which include a National Identity Card, Driving Licence A and the registration certificate of the motorbike popularly known as “carte grise”. The commercial motorcyclists were reminded to respect the different areas of restricted circulation, including Bonanjo and Bonapriso, and if they need to circulate in these areas, they must have an authorisation from the Mayor of the city, as well as the other necessary documents. They were also briefed on the registration process to obtain their identification jackets after obtaining the necessary documents.
On the ground, the Deputy Director of Municipal Police and Security at the Douala City Council, Madam Arlette Alemoka, said they were out to ensure that the commercial motorcyclists got the information first-hand, while hoping that the information would spread to the others who were not available. She said they had deployed 155 agents in different corners of the city to ensure that the sensitisation was effective.
