Youth Policy Document : Consultation For Imminent Revision Ends

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education rounded off discussions with young people in the sectors of health and sporting activities on October 8, 2024.

The Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mounouna Foutsou met with young people in the sectors of “Health and promotion of girls and young women" and "Recreation, Sports, Arts, Culture and Tourism" within the consultations of networks of youth organisations, aimed at revising the National Youth Policy. The process, launched in August 2024, started on September 25, 2024 and ended on October 8, 2024. 
During discussions, the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education reiterated the importance of the gathering which seeks to encourage greater inclusion of young people in decision-making that concerns them, promote gender equality, encourage active participation in promising sectors, and to co-construct a national youth policy that is dynamic, inclusive and sustainable. The National Youth Policy (NYP), Minister Mounouna Foutsou explained, is a strategic document put in place by the government of Cameroon to guide and empower young people, who make up a significant portion of the country's population. He expressed satisfaction at the holding of the sectoral and thematic gathering, which saw the participation of young Cameroonians from all walks of life. He also pointed to the responsibility of young people, who today have the opportunity and capacity to think about their needs and solutions in order to draw up a new National Youth Policy (NYP) for them and future youths.
