Diplomacy : Cameroon Salutes Cooperation With Russia

External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella had a working session with the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergueï Lavrov on November 9, 2024.

On the sidelines of the First Ministerial Conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum holding in Sochi, Russia, External Relations Minister, Mbella Mbella was on November 9, 2024 received in audience by the Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sergueï Lavrov. Accompanied by Cameroon's Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Mahamat Paba Sale, the personalities reviewed cooperation ties between the two countries and expressed the determination to further strengthen them. Minister Mbella Mbella, on the autorisation of the President of the Republic, Paul Biya, is representing Cameroon at the Ministerial Conference.
The working session was therefore to review bilateral relations that rests on four cardinal points, revolving around political, economy, social and cultural aspects. Minister Mbella Mbella therefore used the opportunity to salute relations with Russia, which according to him are friendly and full of prospects. With the two Ministers having signed an agreement on the mutual lifting of visa requirements for the holders of diplomatic and service passports on July 27, 2023 in St Petersburg, the audience was an opportunity to examine it's implementation pace, given that the accord comes into force 90 days after both parties notify each other in writing about their fullfillment of relevent domestication ratification procedures. The commemoration of the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties, and other political cooperation frameworks equally came under review.
