Fisheries, Livestock : Gov’t Encourages North West Famers

Minister Dr Taiga took part in the 50th anniversary celebration of the North West Livestock Development Fund (CDENO) during which livestock and chicks were donated to farmers.


The Minister of Livestock, Fisheries and Animal Industries, Dr Taiga was in Bamenda on December 20, 2024 to mark the celebration of the 50th anniversary of North West Livestock Development Fund (CDENO). The event also saw the distribution of livestock inputs to some vulnerable   farmers of the North West Region. 
Some 500 livestock farmers, 150 fish farmers received 30,000 day old chicks, 100 pigs, 400 bags of complete animal feed under the routine activities of CDENO. The gifts also included some 600 bags of fish feed (15kg), 150 scoop nets, 75.900 fingerlings and 150 floating cages installed at the lake Bambalang under the Emergency Project to Combat Food Crisis in Cameroon (PULCCA). 
The Minster of Livestock, Dr. Taiga saluted the journey covered so far by CDENO from its creation in 1974 with the objective to develop the livestock sector of the North West Region. He told the North West population to give peace a chance. He equally acknowledged the role played by the pioneer Director of CDENO, Mokom Daniel Njawah who served diligently for 13 years and handed to the Current Director Mbah Shupong Michael who continued with the same objectives. It emerged from the ceremony that CDENO has evolved over the years in its budget, infrastructure and human resources.
