Sahel States : New Logo Unveiled…Common Currency In-gestation

The attributes of the CSS were validated and unveiled on December 30, 2024 by the military authorities of the three countries.

The Confederation of Sahel States (CSS) has officially unveiled its logo, symbolizing the unity and solidarity of its three member nations: Mali, Niger and Burkina Faso. The emblem, unveiled on December 30, 2024 following a meeting of high-level officials in Mali's capital Bamako, features a radiant sun and a majestic baobab tree, representing life and diversity, set against the silhouettes of people, signifying the interconnectedness of the Sahel's diverse populations. Three stars prominently displayed represent the three founding member states. Accompanying the logo is the slogan: “One Space – One People – One Destiny,” encapsulating the confederation’s vision for a shared future. The unveiling of the logo will be followed by the adoption of a common currency as decided by Heads of the three States and setting up of an investment bank and a stabilization fund. The adoption of a new currency is of utmost importance for the three countries as it will be guaranteed by the natural resources of the Confederation of Sahel States (CSS). 
The official unveiling of the logo embodying unity and shared destiny in Bamako by the three States has been regarded as a new major step forward. On 22 November 2024, the security ministers of the three member states met in Bamako to validate the technical specifications of the new harmonized travel documents.
