Improving Living Conditions : A Permanent Preoccupation

The Head of State President Paul Biya in his end-of-year 2024 and New Year 2025 message to the nation on December 31, 2024 sums up his perpetual concern for the welfare of his compatriots in the words, “My core concern since acceding to the helm of State has always been to improve the living conditions of Cameroonians.”
The core concern has been translated into concrete and impactful projects in diverse sectors that have been contributing towards making the daily lives of every citizen better and better. The key areas such as electric power supply, drinking water supply and healthcare delivery have over the years featured prominently through diverse facilities and amenities carefully planned to touch and positively impact the lives of the citizens.
Singling out the healthcare delivery sector, President Paul Biya just indicated as the tip of the iceberg some already completed and ongoing projects. Government under his stewardship has been toiling day and night to upgrade hospital technical facilities and extend the health. In this connection, all the nooks and crannies of Cameroon are endowed with government health structures and the Universal Healthcare Scheme is already operational in seven of the country’s ten administrative regions. Better healthcare facilities are being brought to the doorsteps of citizens with the inauguration of the Ngaoundere and Bertoua Regional Hospitals in 2024 that came to add to a host of others.  All the health structures need personnel in quality and quantity.  It is with the aim of ensuring better health and provide jobs to qualified young compatriots that President Biya announced, “To improve this sector’s performance, I have ordered the recruitment of 9,944 health workers over the next five years.”
Considering that electric power supply is a great stimulus to socio-economic, educational, vocational and professional development, government through the leadership of President Paul Biya is spending and plans to keep on spending much resources in electric power supply.  In his message to the nation, the Head of State mentioned the already impactful completion of the Lom-Pangar dam -toe Plant to supply hydroelectric power in some parts of the East Region and the commissioning of the Nachtigal dam in 2024.  All Cameroonians, be they in the urban centres or rural are...
