Bonendale : IDPs Urged to Vaccinate Children

This was during a UNICEF team field visit to the health area on Thursday January 23, 2025.
Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Bonendale, Douala IV Sub-division, have been urged to regularly vaccinate their children. Health officials at the Bonendale Health Center emphasize that vaccination is the most effective way to prevent diseases and protect public health. To achieve zero dose within the health area, the center has implemented strategies to ensure all eligible children receive timely vaccinations.
During a field visit by a UNICEF team, as part of the Zero Dose Program on January 23, Dr. Mayap Christelle, Head of the Bonendale Health Center, explained the challenges posed by the influx of new habitations. "It's not uncommon to see newly established camps, mostly comprising individuals from the North West and South West regions, fleeing the ongoing crisis," Dr. Mayap said. In response, the center has adopted a door-to-door campaign to vaccinate children and sensitize parents about the importance of vaccination. She added that on vaccination days, children are immunized according to their age and required dosage.
