Upcoming Presidential Election: Media Performance Monitor System Instituted

The platform “Indice Media” was launched during a press conference in Yaounde on June 6, 2025.
As Cameroon approaches a pivotal Presidential election, the need for responsible journalism has never been more critical. In response to this, the organisation “Peace and Communication Consulting” has launched a timely initiative titled “Indice Media,” aimed at promoting peace reporting and encouraging ethical media practices during the election season. “Indice Media” was officially launched in Yaounde on June 6, 2025 when the initiative was presented to pressmen. It operates under the leadership of a jury composed of 20 seasoned media professionals. At the forefront is veteran Journalist Alain Belibi, who serves as President of the Jury. The jury’s mission is to independently monitor and evaluate the content of media programmes, ranging from political debates which are becoming more aggressive, to investigative reports and talk shows, with the objective of assessing how well these programmes uphold standards of neutrality, balance, and peace-oriented reporting. The initiative is supported by the National Communication Council, which collaborates with the jury to review findings and determine whether media outlets deserve commendations or sanctions.
