The curtains drew to a close on a resounding Women's Day celebration, as artists took to the stage to showcase the nation's vibrant cultural medley at a luncheon hosted by the First Lady yesterday March 8, 2026 in Yaounde. A highlight of the event was the poignant display of cultural heritage from all 10 regions of the country, courtesy of local artistes. Distinguished guests, including government officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and women from far-flung corners of the nation, enjoyed in the rich culinary offerings that epitomised “Africa in Miniature.” After the nearly three-hour marchpast along the 20 May Boulevard, a several women moved to the Yaounde Hilton Hotel for a special reception. The luncheon, themed "Rights, Justice, Action. For All Women and Girls," showcased the country’s rich cultural heritage through an impressive display of music, dance, and art, allowing guests to immerse themselves in the nation's vibrant culture. It was like a mini-concert, featuring renowned local artistes such as Nvondo Petit Cerveau, Charles Alexis Ondo, Children of the Forest group, Moane Kouade, and Esso Essomba, who had the audience dancing to cultural rhythms from the country's 10 regions. The fusion of traditional instruments with modern sounds crafted an unforgettable ambiance of unity and jubilation.
