Preparations For MC14: Cameroon Set To Host Delegates

As Cameroon makes last minute adjustments with regards to hosting the 14th Ministerial Conference of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute yesterday March 22, 2026 carried out a field visit to inspect hosting sites to ensure that the event is given the grandeur it deserves. He visited three main sites which will host delegates, both for deliberations and lodging. The objective of the field visit was to ensure the smooth hosting of the event in the country’s political capital from March 26 to 29, 2026. Throughout the visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Trade, Luc Malgloire Mbarga Atangana, who is the Chair of the Conference, alongside other cabinet Ministers.

Yaounde Conference Centre

The venue is practically set to host the opening ceremony, plenary sessions and other technical deliberations including bilateral meetings. The display screen at the entrance of the inaugural hall already functional and information on the conference is already being portrayed on it in slides. Logistics and electrical connections have been installed. There is equally a stand that highlights Cameroon’s cultural artifacts and other elements that sell the image of the country. In fact, at the staircase are four status dressed according to the four cultural zones of Cameroon. The VIP waiting room which can simultaneously serve as an audience hall is complete in its set-up. As explained by the Head of Delegation of WTO experts, Danyo Campanelle, the setting in the inaugural hall is akin to that in Geneva, referring to the podium and space allocated for each delegation. In fact, the hall has been set up to enable both inperson and visual participation. The allocated space for each delegation has two microphones and other electrical devices to facilitate vocal participation of the conference. It is also set-up to enable on-the-spot working possibilities. Documentation and information serves have been installed just outside the entrance of the hall. The media space with necessary computers and other halls to host meetings outside the inaugural hall have been adequately equipped in accordance to WTO standards. Security is also guaranteed as gendarme officers and a police post are already on the site. The Prime Minister also visited the cabinet of the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation which already has the necessary working equipment. In fact, some staff of technical secretariat of WTO as well as some foreign journalists were already seen working.
