Buea: Preparations Intensify

The 14 committees created to ensure the smooth organization of the event presented their first reports on April 30, 2026.

The fourteen committees are already at work fine-tuning preparations for the 54th edition of Cameroon’s National Day celebration in Buea, capital of the South West Region. The committees which includes finance, sports, reception, security & protocol, socio-cultural and general coordination among others, presented reports of their activities during the second preparatory meeting on April 30 at the Governor’s Office in Buea. The committees put in place on April 21, 2026, during the first preparatory meeting were each assigned specific tasks. The activities are being coordinated and supervised by South West Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai. During the initial meeting, the South West Regional Delegate for Youth and Civic Education, Isaac Ekombe Mbua, presented an elaborate plan of activities which includes among others sport walk, clean up campaigns, peace and living together crusade, hoisting of the national flag ceremony in all public institutions, camp fire and torchlight procession.
