Buea: Nation Honours Chief Etina Monono's Legacy

Eulogies saluted his selfless service to the community, generosity, and peace-building efforts.

The Great Soppo village in Buea Subdivision has paid final homage to its venerated traditional ruler, HRM, Chief Etina Monono, who passed away on May 7, 2026. His life was celebrated on June 26 and 27, 2026, at the Great Soppo Palace. Day one was dedicated to cultural display where all communities resident in Great Soppo village displayed their cultural heritage. The next day was meant for final goodbye. The State of Cameroon was represented by the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Viang Mekala, who recalled the smooth collaboration he had with Chief Etina Monono and how he (Chief Etina) was always thinking about the development of the village and its people. On the continuity of leadership, the SDO called on the royal family and the population to remain calm as he awaits the person who shall be presented to him as the successor. He presented the condolences of the State to the bereaved family, villagers and inhabitants of Great Soppo village.
