Local Taxation: Mayors, Council Treasurers Gain Skills

This was during a workshop organised by the Ministry of Finance, in Bafoussam on July 2, 2026.
Strategies on the efficient management of local fiscal resources by State and locally elected authorities in the West Region for the wellbeing of the population were discussed during a seminar organised by the Ministry of Finance in Bafoussam on July 2, 2026. Participants were Mayors, Council Treasurers, Accountants and representatives of the Ministry of Decentralisation and Local Development in the West Region. It was presided over by the Inspector General in charge of Services in the West Regional Governor’s office, Patrick Suh Ndele, and coordinated by Nkono Luc Desire, Regional Chief of Taxation. Addressing participants at the workshop, Patrick Suh Ndele, called on the various stakeholders involved in local revenue collection and management, to respect government’s policy on taxes by properly managing resources placed at their disposal. He said as elected officials, Mayors must ensure efficiency and flexibility in the collection and management of finances.
