Boosting Commercial Agriculture: Satisfactory Performance Earned

A 91.6 per cent technical achievement rate was revealed during an assessment meeting held on July 16, 2026, in Yaounde.
D evelopment stakeholders met in Yaounde yester day, July 16, 2026, to review the results of activities carried out between 2019- 2026 under the Country's Stra tegic Opportunity Programme (COSOP), and formulate a new COSOP plan for 2027-2032. Developed by the International Fund for Agricultural Develop ment (IFAD), in collaboration with the government of Ca meroon, COSOP has a strategic target to sustainably improve income, food and nutrition se curity of the rural poor, create jobs, particularly for women and youths, increase the in come, strengthen market inte gration, boost sectoral capaci ties in coordination, policy consultation, and results ma nagement. The review session chaired by the Ministry of Economy, Plan ning and Regional Development (MINEPAT), publicised a cumu lative technical achievement rate of 91.61 per cent. This according to the Interim Sub director for Multilateral Corpo rations at MINEPAT, Van Lionel Assamba, the result is a product of firm collaboration between the government and IFAD. Despite the success registered, the Representative and Country Director of IFAD, Eric Rwabidadi explained that the reviews re corded a performance dynamic exceeded by 66 per cent (54 per cent in loans and 11 per cent in grants).
