U-18 African Volleyball Championships: Promising Journey Ends

C ameroon’s joy at the 2026 U- 18 Boys and Girls African Vol­ leyball Championships in Alexan­ dria, Egypt, was short-lived. Both Ca­ meroonian squads were eliminated at the semi-finals stage of the com­ petition yesterday, July 28, 2026. The boys were first on court and, unfortunately, opened the day on the wrong foot. Cameroon were bea­ ten 0–3 by a strong Nigerian side that proved superior across all phases of play. Some pundits had warned of this outcome, given the pedigree and balance of the Nigerian squad. The Cameroonians struggled but could not withstand the onslaughts from their Nigerian counterparts. The score board read; 0-3 (16-25, 20-25, 19- 25). Some progress was however seen in their output from the first to the third set. The Cameroonian boys return home with mixed feelings; re­ gret at missing the final, but also some satisfaction for having pushed past tougher opponents to reach the last four.
