New Bell Prison: Women’s Peace Convention Reaches Out

F emale inmates at the Douala Central Prison in New Bell received a message of hope and solidarity on July 29, 2026, as members of the National Women's Convention for Peace in Cameroon paid them a humanitarian visit. The members of the Littoral delegation which was led by Madam Dora Sende, donated essential food and hygiene items, including bags of rice, salt, Maggi seasoning cubes, tablet soap, as well as dresses to support the inmates' daily needs. Speaking during the visit, Madam Dora Sende encouraged the women not to lose hope despite their circumstances. She reminded them that im- prisonment is not the end of life and urged them to prepare for a brighter future after serving their sentences. "There is life after prison," she stressed, assuring the inmates that they still have opportunities to rebuild their lives and make meaningful contri- butions to society upon their release.
