South West: Mamfe Mayor Assists Over 500 Students

Mamfe (Manyu Division) - In a bid to help students in Manyu Division get back to school in grand style, the Mayor of Mamfe Council, Robertson Takunchong Ashu, has assisted over 500 Manyu Division students finan­ cially. The assistance ceremony took place on Saturday, September 5, 48 hours before the start of the 2026/2027 school year that rolled off on Monday, September 7, 2026, throughout the national territory. With the gesture, the Municipal Magistrate of Mamfe has again demonstrated his commitment to supporting young peo­ ple and families in Manyu Division. The event, in the Mamfe Town Hall, witnessed the beneficiaries—both in­ digenes of Manyu Division and non- indigenes residing in Mamfe during the long holiday—who actively parti­ cipated in the Mamfe Council Annual Holiday Jobs Programme. Each of the beneficiaries received the sum of FCFA 50,000. The initiative was designed to positively occupy young people during the holiday period while introducing them to the job mar­ ket. Beyond earning an income, parti­ cipants acquired valuable skills and knowledge in areas such as entrepre­ neurship, moral responsibility, civic rearmament, and professional deve­ lopment.
