Dematerialisation of Securities: Common Law Lawyers Edified On Reforms

S ome 540 lawyers drawn from the North West and South West Regions have upgraded their knowledge on the dematerialisation of Securities in Cameroon. This follows a three- day capacity-building seminar (July 29-31, 2026) in Limbe, South West Region, organized by the Autono­ mous Sinking Fund and the Came­ roon Bar Association, under the pa­ tronage of the Minister of Finance. The seminar for lawyers of the Com­ mon Law system who also serve as Notaries, focused on the reforms contained in the Law No. 2014/007 of 23 April 2014 establishing the terms and conditions for the dema­ terialisation of securities in Came­ roon. Speaking while launching the seminar, Finance Minister stated that the reform forms an integral part of the modernisation of the fi­ nancial system and of the economic transformation agenda contained in the National Development Strategy 2020-2030. The dematerialisation of securities, Minister Motaze un­ derscored, directly affects the quality of the economic environment, the security of securities transactions, the protection of rights and the strengthening of confidence in ins­ titutions.
