Local Law Enforcement: Douala V Swears In First Batch Municipal Police

T he first batch of 13 municipal police officers trained at the National School of Local Ad­ ministration (NASLA) has taken the oath of office, paving the way for enhanced enforcement of municipal regulations in the Douala V munici­ pality. The ceremony at Ndokoti Court of First Instance on Wednes­ day, August 6, 2026, witnessed the swearing-in of the batch of municipal police officers recruited by the Douala V Council. The ceremony marked the final phase of a process launched after the enactment of Presidential Decree No 2022/354 of August 9, 2022, which lays down the operational framework for mu­ nicipal police services in Cameroon. The officers are among 90 young recruits selected by the Mayor of Douala V, Richard Mfeungwang, from nearly 200 applicants in November 2025. They underwent three months of intensive training at the NASLA in Buea between November 2025 and February 2026. Their training covered civic responsibility, physical drills, legal procedures, mu­ nicipal administration, and law en­ forcement techniques under the su­ pervision of senior public adminis­ tration officials and security experts. The Douala V delegation distingui­ shed itself by emerging as the best- performing class during the gradua­ tion ceremony.
