Mayo-Banyo, Adamawa: Acrow Steel Bridge Goes Operational

I n a bid to boost connectivity, trade, and inter-urban move­ ment, between the local com­ munities of the Adamawa Re­ gion and neighboring countries, the Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, has officially commissioned the Acrow steel bridge situated over the Mayo Taram River, in the Mayo-Banyo Division. The 51.67-meter-long infrastructure entirely financed by the government of Cameroon through the public in­ vestment budget of the Ministry of Public Works, billed at over FCFA 847 million was constructed by the NAN Company Ltd under the su­ pervisory Mission of Africa Engi­ neering Consulting (AE CONSULT) S.A. According to Minister Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi, the infrastruc­ ture is designed to improve traffic flow on the Foumban-Banyo-Tibati corridor and strengthen connectivity between the various localities wi­ thin the Region. While this bridge is a gracious gift from the head of state, president Paul Biya to the Banyo community, the Minister ur­ ged users to be responsible users, and guard against heavy duty trucks. The project, meant to enhance ac­ cess to basic socio-economic ame­ nities, the Director General of AE Consult, Raymond Tachago, explai­ ned was a forum to boost local em­ ployment particularly amongst the youths. “The project was completed entirely by Cameroonians, in accor­ dance with the State’s instructions,” he said. The infrastructure whose construc­ tion began on November 8, 2023, and was provisionally accepted on January 23, 2026, harbors access roads of 120 linear meters before and after the bridge.
