Peace Building: Five-Year Plan To Strengthen Women’s Role

Initiative launched by Southwest-Northwest Women’s Task Force (SNWOT) during a meeting on Wednesday August 26 2026 in Douala.
T he Southwest-Northwest Wo men’s Task Force (SNWOT) on Wednesday August 26 laun ched a five-year strategic plan aimed at strengthening peacebuilding, com munity resilience and women’s par ticipation in peace processes across Cameroon’s Northwest and South west Regions. The strategic plan is built around four major priorities that is building resilience and social cohesion within communities, streng thening the internal capacity of SNWOT, conducting evidence-based advocacy, and integrating the Youth, Peace and Security agenda towards 2050. According to SNOWT national coor dinator Madam Clotilde Aideansa Waah, the initiative seeks to give women and girls a stronger role in efforts to promote peace, prevent violence and foster social cohesion in communities affected by conflict. However, she mentioned that turning the plan into concrete action will require broad stakeholder support. They are counting on international organisations to see into the stra tegic plan and know where they come in at every point. This underline the need for collective responsibility in ensuring that the strategic priori ties are adequately funded and trans lated into programmes that benefit women, girls and communities.
