South West: Effervescence On Reopening Day

B oarding colleges in the South West Region have taken a lead in the reopening of the academic year 2026/2027, which started yes­ terday, September 7, 2026. Amidst calls for ghost schools which affected day schools, those in boarding schools had effective teaching and learning on day one. South West Regional admi­ nistration inspected the reopening in two missionary boarding schools in Buea. They are the Presbyterian Com­ prehensive Secondary School Buea (PCSS) and Baptist High School Buea (BHS). In each of the schools, the ad­ ministration walked the authorities round and explained at each stage what was unfolding. An upper sixth science in BHS Buea had Biology while there was commerce in a Form Three Commercial in PCSS Buea. South West regional Governor, Bernard Okalia Bilai, told the press that the first day in of school reopening in Buea was effective. “We visited some classrooms. Teachers and students were there as the teaching and learning process was going on. We can conclude that the first day of the new school year is ef­ fective in Buea,” he said.
