MTN Elite One, Two: Pre-season Fever On

T he 2026–2027 MTN Elite One and Elite Two cham­ pionships are set to begin in October 2026. The va­ rious clubs involved are already on high alert as pre-season intensity mounts. Training camps, signing of new players, and administrative work to meet set objectives are well underway. When it comes to training, clubs such as Canon Sportif of Yaounde, Dynamo of Douala, Victoria United, and Unisport of Upper Nkam among others in the Elite One are particu­ larly active. These sides will be batt­ ling to secure their places in the top-tier championship and, if possi­ ble, challenge for the coveted trophy currently held by Colombe Sportive of Dja and Lobo, the 2025–2026 champions. The stakes are even hi­ gher for newly promoted Union Sportive of Abong-Mbang and Apejes of Mfou, that are under pres­ sure to prove they belong among the elite and perhaps even spring a few surprises. A similar scenario plays out in Elite Two, where established clubs like Avion Academy, Les Astres, and At­ lantic of Kribi, just to mention but these will be gunning for promotion to Elite One. Meanwhile, newly pro­ moted Mintack of Upper Sanaga and Elecsport of Limbe must prepare thoroughly not only to avoid rele­ gation but also to pose serious chal­ lenges to the division’s traditional powers.
