Fight Against Corruption: Status Report For 2025 Published

An official presentation on the general state of corruption in the country for last year was done by the Chairman of CONAC, yesterday October 8, 2026 in Yaounde.

S tatistics on the state of cor­ ruption in Cameroon for the year 2025 have been offi­ cially made public. Facts and figures were presented by the Chairman of the National Anti-Cor­ ruption Commission (CONAC), Rev. Dieudonné Massi Gams yesterday October 8, 2026 at the Yaounde Conference Centre. This was in the presence of several personalities, amongst them members of govern­ ment like the Minister Delegate at the Presidency in charge of the Su­ preme State Audit Office, Mbah Acha Rose, the diplomatic corps and members of civil society organisa­ tions. Going by the report, the State of Cameroon incurred financial losses due to corruption-related activities to the tune of FCFA six billion two hundred and seventy-one million. This is against FCFA four billion sixty-one million in 2024, repre­ senting an increase of FCFA two billion two million. The same report also highlights that the Special Cri­ minal Court and the Cameroon Debt Recovery Corporation undertook ac­ tions to recover State assets lost to corruption with the figures for 2025 standing at FCFA five billion eight hundred and seventeen million. Sectors identified with frequent de­ nunciation received through admi­ nistrative mail included land tenure, public service, finance, education, public procurement, water resources and energy, public health, trade, fo­ restry and wildlife, transport, terri­ torial administration and sports. Throughout last year, a total of 8, 036 complaints were received as against 10, 530 in 2024, thus re­ presenting a decrease of 23.6 per cent in relative terms. This decrease in complaints received, the CONAC Chairman said while responding to questions after the report presen­ tation, indicates the fact that people are increasingly getting aware on corruption-related practices and the anti-corruption units in public insti­ tutions are working.
