The distinction is conferred on the Head of State by a weekly bilingual newspaper, ‘HOT NEWS.’
Cameroon’s Head of State is the “2017 Man of the Year”, according to HOT NEWS Newspaper. The weekly bilingual publication holds that President Paul Biya has been present on all fronts, thus distinguishing himself among all.
In a special edition titled, “Paul Biya: 2017 Man of the Year”, the paper qualifies the Head of State as “A man of action, enemy of inertia and an incontestable super favourite for the 2018 Presidential election.” In an editorial, the newspaper revisits the Head of State’s activities in 2017 within and without the country.
The paper holds that, “Paul Biya is a Statesman unlike others whose sole ambition is to make Cameroon a great nation, united in its diversity, prosperous, peaceful, secured, loved and respected.”
President Paul Biya in 2017, according to HOT News, fully accomplished his mission at the helm of the State with steadfastness, wisdom and determination. From his participation at the 72nd United Nations General Assembly in New York, the 5th African Union-European Union Summit in Côte d'Ivoire, the extraordinary Summit of Heads of State of the Economic and Monetary Community of Central African States, CEMAC, in N’Djamena and the One Planet Summit in Paris, France, the paper posits that the Head of State fully played his lawful role.
The Head of State’s efforts to calm down socio-political tension in the North West and South West Regions as well as continual strides to wipe out pockets of resistance from Boko Haram in the northern part of the country have also been saluted by the newspaper.
The celerity with which giant projects are ongoing in the country, the Head of State’s efforts to lessen the suffering of the sick through diverse actions as well as other initiatives taken in course of the year, Hot News believes, make President Paul Biya a Statesman par excellence.
The paper equally gives statistics on the rapidity with which the Head of State treats administrative files. “The President was exemplary in the treatment of administrative files. The different documentation services of the Presidency of the Republic show that the Head of State treated more than 23,475 files and signed more than 9, 457 texts in 2017.” Actions which the paper believes make Paul Biya “A man of action with each passing day.”
The latest distinction is the third in a row for the Head of State by HOT News Newspaper.
