International Seabed Authority : Cameroon’s Participation Appreciated

The remark was made by the Secretary General of the Organisation, Michael Lodge in an audience with the Prime Minister Joseph Dion Ngute on May 16, 2024.


Gratitude has been expressed to Cameroon’s participation within the International Seabed Authority. The Secretary General of the Organisation, Michael Lodge made the remark on May 16, 2024 after an audience with the Prime Minister, Head of Government, Joseph Dion Ngute.  
Visiting Cameroon for the first time, the Secretary General said he came for more elaborate exchanges to further enhance collaboration. “Cameroon is a country that has consistently supported the work of the International Seabed Authority, has had a major influence within the African group in the Authority and plays a very important role. So I am very happy to be able to come here and have in-depth discussions about Cameroon’s participation, the benefits to Cameroon and really have an opportunity to thank the Prime Minister for all the contributions that Cameroon has made over the decades and to look forward to continuing a very active collaboration,” Michael Lodge said. To him, it was very necessary for a visit to Cameroon.  “It is a great pleasure to meet with the Prime Minister and other Ministers of government. This is the first visit by the Secretary General of the International Seabed Authority to Cameroon in the history of the organisation and this year is the 30th anniversary. So it is very important event,” the maritime expert explained.
