70 Patients Receive Healthcare

Three members of government were in Douala yesterday, where they visited the hospital ship, Africa Mercy, and some hospitals where post healthcare is taking place

 

It was a hectic day yesterday, September 14, for André Mama Fouda, Minister of Public Health, Marie-Thérese Abena Ondoa, Minister of Women’s Empowerment and Promotion of the Family, and Issa Tchiroma Bakary, Minister of Communication, who took time to see for themselves the medical activities of the healthcare mission to Cameroon, Mercy Ships.
Already 70 patients have been treated and are waxing well, according to Corne Blom, Director of Africa Mercy. Treatments so far carried out include maxillo-facial and orthopaedic surgeries, eye care screening, dental screening involving free filling and extraction of teeth and women’s health (fistula) surgeries. However, of the 500 women with obstetric fistula selected for the healthcare exercise, only 150 have shown up while 350 are being awaited.
