Boyo Division: CERAC Trains 340 in Computer Literacy

New Belo women’s centre inspires hope for emergence in rural milieu. 

Although it came as a surprise, it was a welcome initiative and a blessing to the population of Boyo division as some 340 members from the community recently completed a one month computer training course. The training programme that took place at the Belo Women’s Empowerment and Family Centre was sponsored by the Circle of Friends of Cameroon (CERAC). Initially, the training that was programmed for about 200 participants ended up training some 255 women and 82 men bringing the number to 340.

The participants were drilled on computer software and hard ware such as Microsoft, excel, computer concepts amongst others . It was a welcome initiative as it brought participants from Belo, Njinikon and Fundong Sub division in Boyo division. CERAC is said to have embarked on empowering women in Cameroon and those of Belo division are not left out. Reason why CERAC recently constructed the Women Empowerment and Family Centre to build the capacity of women in the different domain such as computer technology, sewing, cookery, hair dressing amongst others. Though it is yet to go operational, the centre is equipped with modern machines and some three staff are on standby. According to the Director of the centre Fointama Hilda Aluma, the centre is a gift to the people of Belo Division and a welcome relief.
